Question by agent_Macgyver · Oct 28, 2012 at 06:20 PM · dropbox

How do I upload a game to dropbox?

I do not understand how to put a game on dropbox.

I try using different guides, like

http://www.makegamessa.com/discussion/273/tutorial-how-does-one-unity-web-player/p1

or

http://forum.uberstrike.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=42039

but after I upload the game into my public folder, but there is no option to "Copy Public Link" like the guides say.

On the dropbox website, there is an option to 'Share link' - which gives me this URL https://www.dropbox.com/s/a6s94q325mynx0v/WebPlayer.html and does not play for me, only loads the HTML.

What am I doing wrong? has dropbox changed their unity policies?

Did you upload your game in "Public" folder or something else?

After some searching, I found that if you made an account with dropbox after october 4th 2012, you have to manually enable public folders, otherwise it will not work.

Oh, I see... :)

Good luck with your game!

Place your file in the public folder (or export on it)

Wait dropbox had finnish uploaded your files. then, right clic on the html file / dropbox / copy public link.

Then, if it load the html page (but say you should install unity player again), just remove the s in "https" from your url

I figured it out, dropbox changed how their public folders are set up if you made an account with them after october 4th 2012, you have to directly enable public folders.

Do you need to get the paid version of Dropbox to be able to enable public folders? Their instructions imply that you do.

It turns out that dropbox did change their public account setup on october 4th 2012. So if you made your account after october 4th, you have to go this webpage and enable public folders:

https://www.dropbox.com/help/16/en

Then you can follow the regular steps

Did Dropbox stopped working as a Unity Web Player? Here's what I did: 1. Exported my game as a web player | 2. Put it on dropbox in a public folder | 3. Copied the link of the HT$$anonymous$$L file. But when I put the link on browser (tested on Chrome and Safari), the player doesn't starts. It just gives me the option to download the HT$$anonymous$$L file fo my game. Can someone help me, please? Thanks!

I'm having the same problem as Nieder.... Dropbox won't display anything other than an icon to download the file.
