making a space sim questions

Ok so I want to create a space simulator sort of game, it will be basicly eve online mixed with freelancer controlls as well as call of duty action fps, it will be a mmorpgfps sorta game, my question is will unity work for this sort of game without modifying the game engine and why woulf unity be better vs other engines. Just to make things clear, I have a team and we no abit about unity and scripting and we know it will take forever to make as well as commitment
