Unity Pro vs other engines
How does Unity Pro stack up against other game engines like Dice and Unreal? Other than the price and licensing etc. I mean in terms of capabilities, pro's and cons, differences.
Seems like this question is highly editorial in nature, no?
Sorry, didn't know if this was the appropriate place. I'm thinking of investing in UnityPro and just wanted to see what you all thought in terms of comparison. I understand though, it's not a technical question.
The free version of Unity should give you a good idea of the tool, workflow and capablilities

Unity is better than Unreal I'd say.
Unreal is a hassel really, it's not as compatible with the softwares availible, and isn't as easy to learn. If you look at Unreal, you don't have to code as much, but their is a lot of random and usually useless items to change and tweak. Unity makes you code your own scripts (Atleast for a decent quality game).
However, Unreal does have an AI system, so if you're aiming towards a single player game with complicated AI, then Unreal would be best, and until Unity releases an AI system, it wont be the best in my opinion. However, as more people use it, more professionals get interested, more plugins/tools will be availible.
As for learning, Unity is by far easier to learn.
I can't say anything about DICE, never used...
There are several excellent scripts the community has made for creating AI in Unity, however. Search UnityAnswers, the forum, or Google.
I know, UnitySteer, Path/Behave, theirs some tutorials that show it, etc.
I'm just saying, if you've used Unreal's AI system, it's phenomonal... If Unity had one set up, that most everyone used, then Unity would far surpass even the most expensive engines/private engines...
Even CoD series Radiant and tools has a decent AI system...
All I'm saying, would be nice to have, only problem I see...
At the risk of starting unfounded rumours, it wouldn't surprise me if Unity licensed an AI middleware such as Navpower, much the way it integrates other middleware for physics, video, etc. http://www.babelflux.com/index.html
