making a hole through walls to see my player object in a top down game enviroment

hi I am trying to create a way for me to see my player object when they run behind a wall in a top down game. I would like to add a way for me to cut a circle or square hole through the walls so that I can see whats behind the wall and more importantly my player object. whats the most efficient way of doing this?

Hi If your still looking for a solution check our Asset as this is custom made shader for this use case. It can handle multi user multi buildings ( obstructions ) and is available for Standard URP and HDRP .
