Question by crocodile5 · Apr 25, 2012 at 02:12 AM · resolutionproject settings

Question about multiple resolutions

I am confused about setting resolution for my game.

So as far as I understand now, I can set the minimum resolution from:

project settings-->player

And I need to adjust my camera and GUI according to this minimum resolution. When player changes resolution from the graphic options or ingame it automatically scales up to this resolution but the view of camera stays the same with a better resolution.

Is this correct?

If not how do I do this?

Also I tried to use Screen.SetResolution code in my script along with the above but it doesnt really seem to change much. What does this code do exactly? (I read the script reference but it doesnt explain much)

Adding textures and things will make Screen.SetRes... work. It morphs the images. Now for the direct shrinkage and positioning to your parts is up to you. I would just go ahead and set your Project settings-->player resolution to the middle of were it was. Now for the position of the cam, just set its transform position.

Thanks for the response.

Also when you set the default resolution from the project settings, will it work properly for any resolution with the same camera view range or do I have to set different camera transforms for each resolution?

Sorry I am actually quite new to unity.I will try to explain better actually, I built my test project and tested with all the resolutions available. For every resolution rather than the camera view fitting to that resolution, it clips the camera view. So with every resolution the camera view becomes different than each other. And since I am doing this test project for windows, so every player will probably have a different screen size,and I want everyone to see the same camera view, how can I achieve this?
