What do you mean by "not working properly"? If it is that the flare doesn't fall off in size by distance you could script that (intensity by distance).

I mean that the when the car is moving in front of the camera the flare becomes intermittent appearing and disappearing

Just check out how the break lights are done on the car tutorial.

Make sure your material is set to FX -> Flare. This should display it constantly - even if it's behind geometry (or intersecting with the headlight in your case). ...I think.

I think from your other comments this isn't what you're after anyway. ...sounds like you want a shader glow/bloom effect no?

If so, you'll need Unity Pro I think for that too btw. You might find more info if you search for "glow shader on object" or similar.

The pic you linked to looks like it's done with a texture plane set to FX, oriented so it's always looking at camera. Doesn't look like a shader 'glow' so that pic might be a bit misleading.

Also, it's prob better to do it like in the pic, a texture plane. Less costly on processor and looks nicer for that purpose.

yeah exactly, when the car is moving the flares just appears and disappears constantly. I'm not using a light source. Only an empty gameObject with the Lens Flare component. I'll try to post a video to explain my prob

Thanks for uploading the video, 'a picture paints a thousand words' in this case! I can see exactly what you mean now, but as to the answer I'm not sure. We can probably rule out foreground objects culling it, because otherwise, it would not show when going past the frame of the players car. hmmm. tough one. I'll have a think!

yeah I have no idea how to solve this, I can't find an explanation for the intermittent behaviour. I'll keep trying to solve this or I'll have to find another way to simulate this effect which is difficult not using Unity Pro. Thanks anyway
