Unity spontaneously moves image assets into a parent folder minutes after import
Hello there, I have been using unity for a long time and this is the first time I have encountered this issue. It started happening since I updatedmy project to 2020.1 (currently running 2020.2). Issue is that about 2 minutes after I import any asset (unity or external folder) containing image files located within a folder, the image files spontaneously dissapear from their place and move into the parent folder (the METAs arent moved, so Unity throws a missing file exception and calls it a day.) I can afterwards move the images back into their place manually (in editor, not file explorer) and this issue no longer appears, probably by moving the METAs too. This is the only project where this keeps happening, I have tried getting rid of plugins but to no avail. I am nearly sure its some hidden setting I must have toggled on by a mistake and I would be glad if someone could point me in the right direction or even say whether they share the same issue.
@Gasimo Hello, Were you able to find an solution to this problem? I am having this same issue. For me it is in 2018. Unity moves any image after it is edited in any way inside of unity.
After a huge search, it appears a third-party asset was causing these import problems. I believe the issue disappeared after removing either Shader Control or reimporting the Quixel Bridge Plugin. However this was insanely weird behaviour and was not happening few months ago.
