How turn off tile visualization ("chess board" effect) for terrains in the editor?

Question

In the editor my terrains are shown like in the picture. How can I turn off this "chess board" effect for a better pre-visualization?

I could not find any help in the documentation or in google...

underneath where it says scene, click and select "Textured"

Maybe it has something to do with your lightmapping try opening the lightmap window then turn off "Show resolution"
