Question by huynhke · Mar 25, 2015 at 12:05 AM · unity 5lightinglightglobal illumination

Why am I getting GI Banding?

So i'm messing with this new Unity 5 GI stuff (like everyone else, it feels), and here's some problems i'm running into that I hope someone else figured out already?

Here's a screenshot of the intense banding that i'm getting, (Photo's levels were enhanced a bit to make it more obvious)

Here are my settings used in the lighting window, alt text

I tried upping my realtime resolution to 1 (i think that's default) but it wasn't helping much.

not sure about unity 5, but on 4.x i was going to light-map texture and changing compression to solve that issue :)

yeahhh i remembered bumping into that in 4.x, but this is currently not baked lighting, it's the realtime GI :(

I kind of worked around it? The setting may have been too dark? When I added some lights in the area it fixed/hid the problem, but i'm sure theres a better way around it :|
