Can Unity3D run on a Virtual Machine Mac OSX?

My main goal is not to buy an apple computer just to publish my apps on the iOS AppStore. So I need to confirm 1st if Unity3D can run on the Virtual Machine Max OSX? And my PC is running Windows. I hope it can run.

It's impossible to sell in the App store unless you have a number of iPhones, iPads and indeed at least one $$anonymous$$ac. (But see $$anonymous$$att's notes.) Additionally you must be fully registered and paid-up which involves beaucoup paperwork and some money, year after year.

$$anonymous$$y sage advice:

I think it's worth pointing out that of the 400,000 iOS developers, 399,850 of them make zero dollars per annum.

140 of them make less than $52 per

And ten of them are EASports, Rovio, PopCap, Disney, etc.

(In contrast there are currently any number of high-paying jobs for excellent game developers, or even if you're inexperienced, you can just take your pick anywhere any time at any price .. so you have to wonder if it's worth the effort you know? :O )

If there are 400,000 ios developers and 399,850 of them are not doing any money, the same happens with every art. If you are doing crappy games...

I don't know why it is not possible! Personally, I create iOS application (XCode) using a VM Mac OS; and that's working! Of course, Unity (as all 3D program) is more CPU/GPU consumer, and it can be hard to use it under a VM; but technically, if you can build a XCode application, I don't know why you can't build a Unity Application!

You can create a XCode application, test it on simulator, test it on iOS device, publish to AppStore. You can do what you do with a $$anonymous$$ac ! ;-)

I always test my apps via USB cable. You can use iTunes, XCode, even Adobe suite ! ;-) I notice one issue: audio. Not perfect!

I am currently running Unity3d 4.3.3 on a Mac OSX Mavericks VMware image on a Dell Inspiron N5110 with a linux host. I'm using primusrun for graphics acceleration and Mac OS itself is running fast, but due to the rendering power needed, unity is running a bit sluggish. It's sort of usable.

My specs: i5-2430M @2.40GHz NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M

Hope this helps.

You need Unity running on a Mac (outside a VM) to build for iOS. You can run Unity inside a virtual machine running Windows on a Mac, but that won't build for iOS.

You might be asking if you can run a hackintosh in a VM on a PC? If that's what you are asking, I don't know the answer.

I am using a Windows PC and will try to install a V$$anonymous$$ $$anonymous$$ac OS then install Unity3D on that V$$anonymous$$ then try to build for iOS. So you just said I can't. And that's bad news for me. :( so this time I need to buy a $$anonymous$$ac Computer. Thanks a lot bud

Actually I just don't know. It's possible - I couldn't figure out if that was what you after - it might be possible.
