Question by Fixe · Aug 24, 2016 at 12:44 PM · procedurallightprobes

How do I procedurally place light probes

How do I procedurally place light probes? Note, I'm well funded in lighting algorithms as well as computing light off-line, what I'm asking is:

Does unity provide some kind of API to allow me place light probes dynamically and put inside my own spherical harmonics values? I want to programmatically place light probes inside scenes and prefabs.

Is that possible? how? is that expensive? (does unity rebuild all tetraeders or it is just smart enough to rebuild only tetraeders that have changed after adding a probe)?

I want to know if it is possible to leverage partially the pre-existing probe system or if I have to roll my own from 0 if I want to procedurally light procedural content.

thanks.
