Script continues after it has been destroyed

Hi, this is driving me nuts, after some checks i call DestroyImmediate(this) on update function although it's only destroying immediately and it's runing update function again.

How could i truly destroy immediately my script or the update function from running?

I've already tried Destroy and DestroyImmediate with no success.
