Question by FrozenBlade · Aug 20, 2016 at 07:48 PM · android2d gameprogrammingbeginnertutorials

How to start and what to learn?

Hello Ladies and gentlemen, I am a 16-year-old boy, who wants to start making android games from scratch in Unity, mostly 2D for the beginning. I've read that Unity uses Javascript and C#. My Questions are : How long will it approximately take to make my first 2D Android Game? Where should i start looking for C# and Javascript Tutorials for Unity? And where should i start to look for Unity Tutorials? I would be very pleased if you could give me some advice. Best regards

Hello FrozenBlade,

I have been where you have been, a teenager trying to make games so I will just tell you what those answers would have been for me.

It took me aproximently 3 weeks after starting to learn to make my first game. Then it took me 1 week more to make a game worthy of publishing.

If you want to find some quality tutorials look on the unity page at the top of the screan Learn > Tutorials > Topics these tutorials include everything nessesary to make a game.

If you want here is the way I would recommend to learn Unity in general to somebody who has next to no knowledge of Unity: Watch the roll a ball project tutorial over the course of 1-3 days, Then watch the scripting topics one at a time per day and record what you learned and the scripts you wrote in a notebook (I know it sounds stupid but it helps you remember). You can always skip any tutorial you don't think has any value. Then after 3ish weeks or until you feel ready make a practice game including almost everything you learned. Hope that can help.

Best of luck, tiggy02.
