Dear Unity developers: How do you backup your projects?
I have googled this question, but there seems to be alot of ways to do backups, including versioncontrol tools ect.
Now this is directed to the actual developers of Unity itself, to try and get an inside look from where the magic happens. note: pls do note that I´m using the personal version of Unity (and NO 3th-party versioncontrol systems) also im working alone, and don´t need to share projects on pages like github.
My process so far has been: 1) Copying the project-folder itself and uploading it to my own ftp server (this recently created a wierd access violation error on the uploaded files when i downloaded it again - so im really scared of this now)
2) Making a package with all files included (was supprised about the small filesize, and would prefer this myself) and uploading that on my server (dont know if this will cause potential access violation errors in the future, as i just learned this neet trick).
3) I used to use dropbox, again to copy the whole project folder, but found that files would get 'locked' when in use, preventing updating of said file - so i quickly abandoned that method
But maybe there´s a smarter way to do backups, that is less prone to file errors? pls bless us with your wisdomz dear Unity devs :)
Thanks Kal.
