Is it possible to blend between HDRI skies? How?
I want to implement a day/night cycle using HDRP. Since the action occurs on the surface of a planet, I thought of using Volume components to blend between day and night.
I set a general volume for the day time using an HDRI sky:
Then I set a local volume for the night time, associating it to a box trigger that covers an hemisphere.
What I expect in this case is a smooth transition between both skies, but as far as I understand, the Volume will only interpolate between the values of the properties - so the HDRI Sky property will just "blend" between the BlueSkyDesert reference and the PurpleSkyboxCubemap reference.
So, the question is: is it possible to have a transition between HDRI skies using the volume - or any other method? In that case, what would be a simple and performance-wise way to do it?
Did you ever find a solution to this? It seems like it would be a common request, but the two-volume approach is not working as desired for the reasons you mentioned - basically it appears to pick the last? volume to use as the HDRI Sky texture and simply interpolates the other values. The only other "solution" seems to be creating a Custom Sky which is a lot of work just to blend two cubemaps.
