Error Unity 2019.4.28f1_1381962e9d08 on Steam

I own a Valve Index VR kit and I'm referencing a Steam game called "The Lab" game here specifically, but I have experienced the same problem with other games in my Steam library.

A couple of years ago, I could run the Lab game on Steam VR without any issues. But for the last several months to a year, I always receive a Unity error and the game closes down before opening. I've tried everything to get it to work again. Uninstalling and deleting all references to the game then reinstalling (doesn't work). This is the error window that pops up before the game just fails to load:

He suggests plugging out a 2nd monitor and deleting a bunch of files. The title of the video references the error code exactly and the video has had almost 4000 views, so I'm clearly not alone in this.

Any idea what can be done?
