Third Person gun pickup and it animation

Hello I am working on a third person shooter I am pick up the gun and drop but i am not able to figure out that how player with hold different Weapon(Guns) as the spacing for every gun is different and also i have future plans add first person to it so that the player will have the option to switch between 1st and 3rd person mode

The idea i have in mind having all the weapons in Empty object hold the guns at right location on the arm and on Switching or picking up new weapon, I will enable and disable accordingly ,

Is there any better and effective of doing it? and as the above idea is used by others Are there any thing that i should keep in mind while working on it?
