Snapping normals

I need a script that allows an object to snap to a surface, the surface can be of colliding surface in front, or below. Only one of this can be True at a moment. Any idea how to approach this issue? Is there a way to snap to the surface normal? Especially when the surface below is about 180 degree ++ from the current character normal?
