How to you build a script to move multiple player pieces

Hi, I'm building a Snakes and Ladders game and I'm stuck trying to figure out how to build a script that sends the player pieces (different coloured pyramids) around the board from space to space, moving however many the random number generator of 6 generates, moving up ladders and down snakes. Complicating the problem is the fact there's 4 players each with their own game piece. I have no idea where to even start on this. Can anyone help?

The board is 5 by 6 squares.
