End user error -- mono.dll caused an Access Violation
I am trying to help my friend who is getting this error on three different unity games he has on Steam. He has no other unity games installed.
Unity Player [version: Unity 4.3.4f1_e444f76e01cd]
mono.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module mono.dll at 0023:100010c6.
Same mono.dll error for all three games.
I had him uninstall all 3 games and then reinstall one of them, still got the same error. Any ideas of what else I can try? From the searching I have done, I have this error addressed and fixed, but i was always on the builders side and it did not seem like any of those fixes would pertain to an end user.
Here are his specs:
Windows 8.1
AMD FX 6350 black edition
GTX 480 Ti --drivers are current
4GB RAM
Any help would be appreciated.
Update: We uninstalled ALL unity games, all of them gave the same kernelbase.dll access violation that after a few tries turned into mono.dll access violation. The only unity game that did not cause issues was one that ran Unity 3.5. All the other games that gave errors were running a 4.x version of unity player. After un-installing them all, we reg fixed any errors, most of the unity related. Rebooted and installed one unity game still getting same error. I am afraid he he may just have to reinstall the OS windows 8.1 as I am out of ideas . His video drivers are up to date and even ruled out corrupted fonts.
Appreciate any ideas.
