ARB_sparse_texture support iOS / OSX
Downloading Unity 4.5 and the Spare Texture sample project, It says it is unsupported on my Mac (running OSX Mavericks 10.9), and when I try to build to iOS it also says it is unsupported.
Is this functionality impossible on mobile phones (specifically iOS devices) due to hardware restrictions? Or do they need to support a specific version of OpenGL? What is the minimum or specific version of OpenGL that supports ARB_sparse_texture?

The minimum required OpenGL version for Sparse Textures is 4.4.
But mobile device use OpenGL ES versions, which is a stripped version of the OpenGL API. There is none OpenGL ES versions that currently include the sparse textures (the most recently released version right now is 3.1).
As for the your Mac running on Mavericks 10.9, it have the 4.1 version of OpenGL, which mean that it also doesnt have the required version for sparse textures.
