Animating a humanoid skeleton using text files
As part of my research project, I've decided to create a tool that could help with visualizing several different animations of humanoid skeletons simultaneously. The animations are stored as lines of float values corresponding to the 3d coordinates of certain joints in space separated by commas. Each line of floats in a text file is equivalent to a single frame of animation, with individual frames separated by a newline character. The question I have is how to animate several models using different text files simultaneously in a computationally efficient way. The first approach I see is using LERPs, spheres and lines to create a stick figure and use LERP to interpolate between different joint positions. The second approach I see is to use mecanim and the animationCurve(?) systems to animate a humanoid model I'll probably get off the asset store. Any recommendations on which approach I should take?
