Android Joystick Control without CharacterController

I am trying to use the joystick controls for my player for both movement and camera. I have tried using the scripts in the standard assets for mobile, but they all need a character controller to work. I already have a player movement script that only needs a rigid body, and the character controller and rigid body do not play well together. Can someone help me by telling me to how I can just use the joysticks as controllers rather than having to equip the player movement script to?
