Question by athosbr99 · Feb 21, 2014 at 12:39 PM · rigidbodymesh rendererrocket

Split a object and make another one appears

Hi there. I'm new to Unity and I have a rocket that is like this:

Rocket = FogueteArt.prefab

And looks like this:

Rocket

I made it launch and land through Rigidbody. However, I need to separate the gray area from the red one and make the parachute appear (by default, the Mesh Renderer of the parachute is disabled).

How can I make this happen? Any tips? Thanks.

Bem-vindo ao Unity Answers Athorbr. You can use the GameObject.child to split the meshes in the hierarchy, use the Child to access the objects that is in the FogeteArt.prefab and the Parent to access the higher level like: acessing FogeteArt.prefab from Corpo_Nariz. Good luck!

You can do this pretty easily. Unparent the grey part and set them as a rigidbody with every movement and rotation axis frozen. Then just do...

 parachute.renderer.enabled = true;

you have to parent the parachute with the rest of the rocket.
