Unity to unity pro
I have been working on a project and I am thinking about upgrading to unity pro, is this hassle free as I'm in a project about 10% and don't want to start over. Also is the jump worth the 1500 and how much editing will I have to do to port the game to iOS.(I have been focusing on pc and have little knowledge of other platforms.Lastly, the game is closest to uncharted.I have put a lot of work in the project and believe it is looking good.(doesn't any developer!?)
nah i always try to think my work is rubbish so i keep on improving, I'm very critical about my own stuff though and never satisfied but then again I've only been playing with game development for a year..
i don't own pro so i can't say much but I'm pretty sure once you upgrade your project to pro you can't then downgrade again. upgrading to pro doesn't remove features it just adds them so things wouldn't work properly anymore if you did ever revert back to free (not that you would). if you look on unites website there is a comparison checklist between free and pro and straight away you know it will be a huge benefit to performance because of culling and what not, there is also video in pro which i might upgrade purely for cut scenes.
porting to iOS mobile could be a challenge or rather just time consu$$anonymous$$g as obviously they are not as powerful. all the controls with have to be changed to touch, control ui will have to be added, the most annoying thing will be keeping the draw calls as low as possible, as well as having to change complicated models into simple ones (more squares and hexagonal shapes). changing the shaders to quicker ones, less lights enabled. in short almost everything will have to be looked at.
i think unity may port games for you though i can't remember though, you should have a look

There's no hassle since there's no actual upgrade; Pro is just a different license, not a different app. As for being worth $1500, only you can answer that. The effort for porting to iOS depends on your game; in the best case you'd just have to rewrite the input code.
