Spotlight and Point Light together...
I wanted to ask if this is considered a bad strategy or if it is an acceptable approach. I had to make a lamppost, at the start as I have seen most people do online I gave it a point light. But even after enabling it as mixed/real time and adding hard shadows to it it didn't seem to cast shadows with non-static objects therefore the player.
My associate wanted the player to cast shadow so we experimented with spotlight which gave the shadows as expected, but well, it isn't so good as s lamppost as its light doesn't blend-in with nearby enviroment.
I did many tests trying so create the ambient light adding directional light and area light to the environment, but didn't like the results that much.
After some time I tested adding a point light to the same place I have a spotlight, so I have both the focal light with the shadows nearby and some blending weaker light going for a longer distance. My plan is to bake the point lights as they will be 100% static anyway. Is this a normal approach or am I overkilling and making it hardware expensive?
