Unity Models Question
Whenever I download models from third party websites and I import them into unity, when i add them to a scene they are plain white, however it does have a folder materials and textures.
When I try and drag the textures onto the model it doesn't work.
Basically how can I add the textures and colors to the models? Thank you
It seems that Unity is unable to find matching texture for the object. When you indicated
"When I try and drag the textures onto the model it doesn't work."
...what does it mean? Is it still white? Does the texture mapped to the correct UV? Is there a material component attached to the model?
I don't normally drag and drop models from 3rd party directly into Unity. If further editing/tweaking are needed, you can't edit it in Unity. I prefer to open the models in Blender, apply materials and texture, then export as FBX for Unity.
What file format models are you trying to use? I tend to agree that .fbx is a good standard to use in Unity.
Thank you ikelaiah I'll give that a try and I have been trying to use .obj, I'll try .fbx models thank you
