I need a VPS that works with unity
Hi,
I've rented a vps on atlantic.net, but turns out that I can't use it to make an authorative server to my game simply because the machine (like all the vps's I've found) doesn't support direct3d and Unity simply won't open neither webplayer. I've tried to use Analize 3d to try to emulate a 3d graphics card but didn't work either. So, I would like to know if anyone knows a VPS service that provides machines that are compatible with unity3d?
Why does your server need a graphics card? Typically servers sit in dark sheds with no monitor connected. Your server app might be able to run if you use the -batchmode flag.
And the beauty of Linux Headless Builds come to shine XD (Yes you should have a Linux Server and not a windows one). Because of the nature of either batchmode or Headless, you should be able to get anywhere nessesary using only flags (You don't want to try creating virtual input for your game ;) )
I think you didn't get what I've meant. I don't want or even need input or graphics on my server. I just can't execute the unity standalone server on the vps because it asks for a graphics card. Recently I've discovered the -batchmode flag and I used it and it worked pretty well, but, I had to go for a 30-days trial version of Unity3d because It says it's not possible to execute in batchmode if it was not published on a unity pro version and in 30-days I won't be able to use Unity again and I was looking for a solution that wouldn't cost me $1000,00, but since I don't have choice I'll have to buy it. Do you know if I can run unity players in batchmode on linux for free?
Please post comments as comments, NOT as answers
Yes, AFAI$$anonymous$$ you need pro to run in batchmode/headless, however you should try running a normal build on Linux just in case Linux is smarter than windows and doesn't give you such errors. BTW Unity pro costs $1500 not $1000 :)
