How to export a render to texture model in fbx from 3dsMax to Unity
I have created a 3dsmax model with render to texture function. Render to texture in Max create new materials in shell modality. When I export in fbx the model, it loses the textures. How can I use Render to texture in Max and export the model with the textures in fbx, and then in Unity?

you need to make sure that your .fbx export settings are correct. look inside for anything that says "Bake Textures" or "Include textures as .tif files" ...if you just look at the .fbx settings when you go to export, you will see it. just scroll down and read.
basically, you end up with a folder of texture maps that export out with your .fbx file. you bring the folder of textures into your Unity project file, drag your .fbx on the scene and assign the materials to the right objects. all done!

thats a question for 3Ds max forums not unity. uv map the character and texture it that way, then just import the map and model into unity (seperatly) Unity doesn't really handle any of this procedure other than recieving things you have made in external software.
