Animation Window greyed out, IndexOutOfRangeException error?

So, I was about to make an animation to my knife. (Attack) And I clicked on my knife, did go to animation tab and then, it was kinda stuck and this was how the window looked:

When I clicked an other object, it worked just like normal.

The console log looked like this:

And says:

IndexOutOfRangeException: Array index is out of range.
 UnityEditor.AnimationSelection.GetClipAtIndex (Int32 index) (at C:/BuildAgent/work/7535de4ca26c26ac/Editor/Mono/Animation/AnimationSelection.cs:111)
 UnityEditor.AnimationSelection.RefreshChosenClip (.SerializedStringTable chosenClip) (at C:/BuildAgent/work/7535de4ca26c26ac/Editor/Mono/Animation/AnimationSelection.cs:198)
UnityEditor.AnimationSelection..ctor (UnityEngine.GameObject[] animatedOptions, .SerializedStringTable chosenAnimated, .SerializedStringTable chosenClip, UnityEditor.AnimationWindow editor) (at C:/BuildAgent/work/7535de4ca26c26ac/Editor/Mono/Animation/AnimationSelection.cs:142)

When I click the error this opens in inspector:

Any solutions? It happens often to me.

Thanks in advance..

Did you split the animations in the import?

If there are multiple animations crammed into one then you need to split and rename the snippets or Unity will throw a wobbly when you try to call them.

Also, animation window gets greyed out when Import Animations is not checked or when Rig is set to none, I believe.
