Asset 3DS Max 6 - import crashes Unity
Hi just starting to work with Unity - I made a basic 3d-object in 3DS Max 6 - UVW-mapping texture size 512x512 - but when I copy the max-file and texture into the working folder of the Unity-project it crashes Unity. When opening Unity and the project again there is just the texture - but no 3d object...? Can you advice me what to do, so that it imports a 3d object with the right mapping?
Not sure why this is happening - are 3ds max 6 files not supported by unity?

I am not sure, but 3ds max 6 is from 2003, The second Discreet release. In a few days we are going to have the 13th release 2011. The FBX wasn't included back then and unity uses the FBX to import and export in the background. If you can find any way to import to another application and export through that it will be good. 3DS probably or Obj. Try blender which is free. You can directly import 3ds and obj to unity but there are features missing from these file formats.
