Weird Point Lighting

Hey Guys, it's me again, and I am still programming my little FPS, however a little unpleasent error occured which I really can't solve by myself:

alt text

This is a Screenshot of a Lamp in the Game (it's the same in the editor, the game Preview and the Game itself)

alt text

And this Is the same Lamp, only screenshoted from a few meters away (but facing the same direction and object), however the point light of the Lamp is then only effecting other objects but not the ground itself! it's the same when I turn the camera in a specific angle: Screenshot3

the really weird thing is tho: If the Lamp (or a clone of it), is in the very middle of the map... The lighting bug does NOT occur... not at all.. really strange.. and it's the same with every point light.. it does not even depence on the lamps at all...

Notes: + The ground has the same tag as all objects + The Main light of the Scene is a Directional Light + Every Point light seems to be effected (even if I create a totally new one)

So IF there is anyone, who's familiar with that, please help, it's not a big Bug at all, but I kindo go mad because of this >.<

I still need help, and apparently, the problem seems to happen alot on Other projects, and always regarding a few Point lights and a Terrain.

Does the number of lights make a difference? As in, the bug happens with many lights, but not with a single one? If so, I have a solution.

go to edit/project settings/quality settings and check your pixel light count if this is set to say 1 then you can only have 1 light effecting any single object try increasing this to a higher number

Be aware that, while this is a solution, if you're planning on having a large number of lights in the scene, increasing Pixel Light Count to a very large number will have a big impact on performance. There's a reason that it's set so low by default.

Thanks for the help, I think it's working now, needs a bit testing tho, since I deleted all of the point lights >_>

@Screenhog: It was set to 4, I set it too 200, are we talking here about $$anonymous$$ASSIVE perfomance reduction within this range? Or have you talked about like 4000+ pixel light count?

200 is pretty high. Check your draw calls, and check performance on a variety of machines. It might be okay, but I'd never personally recommend setting it that high for a project.

200 is huge. I'm building a mansion with several dozens of lights, and I set it to 5, and there are no problems so far. I don't know what you would be doing with lights that would require 200...

I only have $$anonymous$$e on 2 for ios development, objects that need more i bake, or for some objects like floors i split it up into sections so all the lights will effect it, thats of course if the lights need to change during runtime.
