Background gradient

I would like to create a menu in unity like the one in the attached image (the background image only, not the menu items). If I set the canvas to Screen Space Camera, my car is in front of the gradient background, but the problem is with shadows. The car can't cast the shadow onto the canvas.

How to create a similar effect?
