Put a map into Unity
How do you put or get a map into Unity? I have downloaded some terrains, but I cannot get any of the terrains to go into the Scene Editor. I can, however, get some of the objects to go in there, but I need a map so I can put buildings and trees and such on it. I am a total newbie, so I hope this isn't a stupid question to be asking, as I am trying to learn how to use Unity. It looks like you should be able to just drag some terrain into Unity, but it doesn't work that way. I have looked at all the tuts and have googled it, but I cannot find an answer to this question. I know there must be something I am not doing right - I just don't know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.
What do you mean by a map? You downloaded a 3d model? Are you using the Unity terrain tool, please be more specific.
No, I did not use Unity terrain tool. I have tried the World $$anonymous$$achine, but the maps it creates do not translate well in Unity (they look totally different). I have had a hard time getting anything to work properly in Unity as far as terrain is concerned. I noticed on the sample "Angry Bots" that is included with Unity that the scene has a room in it where objects interact with each other. How do I get a room like that in Unity? Also how would I get an outdoor scene in Unity as well?
