Best way to go about top down procedural 2d city
I am really new to this whole procedural generation so I am trying to find the best way to go about generating a 2D top down procedural city. Something like this
The yellow signifies the road, the blue is building 1, the brown is building 2, the green is building 3. Now if I specify more building 1 for example, then it will put the blue in one of the empty cell depending on the size. Each building have different sizes and based on that, it procedurally slots it. But before that, I need to generate roads and when roads intersects like this, it generates a cell. Now cells can vary on sizes too to have some variety. I know it's a bit complicated so I apologize. How would I go about doing this? Thanks!
