Multiple animations for weapons

Iam working on a 3rd person game and i was wondering is there a way i can make a single animation for player walking whit a gun and a applyng it for all weapons or am i suppose to make diferent animations for diferent weapons ?

Think the general idea would be to have 1 animation for walking (just for the feet that is) and a separate 1 for the gun[s] and then basically playing both of those animations at the same time.
