Question by sterrier · Nov 17, 2016 at 07:19 AM · androidioslevelbuild settingseditor log

iOS ipa too big compared to android due to "level" size in editor log

I have created a game on android and iOS platform. My issue is the iOS build is 230mb in the App Store whilst it is under 40mb on Android.

Its the "level" in the editor which is causing the problem.

Textures 48.3 mb 24.6% Meshes 12.3 mb 6.3% Animations 496.1 kb 0.2% Sounds 6.2 mb 3.2% Shaders 1.4 mb 0.7% Other Assets 1.5 mb 0.7% Levels 115.8 mb 59.1% Scripts 3.3 mb 1.7% Included DLLs 6.4 mb 3.3% File headers 262.6 kb 0.1% Complete size 195.9 mb 100.0%

Usually the culprit are static batching and unity terrain but STATIC BATCHING IS OFF for all the models and I don't use unity terrain.

The game consist of 50 levels in total with more to come

Textures 48.3 mb 24.6% Meshes 12.3 mb 6.3% Animations 496.1 kb 0.2% Sounds 6.2 mb 3.2% Shaders 1.4 mb 0.7% Other Assets 1.5 mb 0.7% Levels 115.8 mb 59.1% Scripts 3.3 mb 1.7% Included DLLs 6.4 mb 3.3% File headers 262.6 kb 0.1% Complete size 195.9 mb 100.0%

What I like to know is:

  • What else could be causing my level size to be this big?

  • Is there way to find a breakdown of the level in the editor?

  • Why is this happening in iOS not in android?

Thanks for your help!
