Modifying spacing in 3D Text
is it possible to tell the 3d Text to "crunch" in a bit or be more compressed?
No, though you can do that with FlyingText3D, which also is actual 3D text and not bitmaps-on-quads.
cool if i needed that sort of 3d text, it would be expensive to make everything out of it. oh well I'll find a way somehow
It can actually be less expensive since there's no transparency, though of course it uses more vertices (which generally isn't a problem on modern GPUs).
BTW, the word you're looking for is 'kerning' - that might help your searches for solutions.
It sounds like the question is about tracking, actually; kerning is spacing between individual pairs of letters.
