How do I apply a texture to a 3D model?
I imported a pistol into Unity and want to know how to add a texture to that model.
$$anonymous$$ake a texture (using Image processors). $$anonymous$$ake a material in unity. (In project panel: Create material) Assign the texture u made.
I fin it easy to make materials in 3D programs (blender)...

Drag an image into your Project pane, create a new material, drag that texture onto it, then drag your new material onto your GameObject. Couldn't be simpler, really.
I believe you can actually drag the texture straight on to the 3D model in the scene and it will automatically create a new material for you, add it to the object, and assign the texture to it. So yeah, it could be simpler :)
Julien, you're a life saver, I can't even tell how long I spent trying to figure this out and yet it was so simple :D An up-vote and huge thanks!
I think you're right, but I wasn't sure off the top of my head if it just assigned it to the default diffuse material and created a new material in the Project. Either way, I would prefer to have more control over where my material is stored. :) But yeah, it could be simpler! ;)
