Maya .MA import issues

Hey folks,

Anyone run into problems where object UVs in your .ma file get all whacked out if updated and then replaced in the unity asset folder? I'm working with a programmer and we do a lot of back and forth and it seems whenever i try to update in the .ma maya scene it doesn't update properly on the unity side. textures can be misplaced and even missing altogether. Also objects that haven't been moved at all in the maya scene can suddenly be out of place in the unity scene after the update.

Any idea what my problem is other then being totally green to the Maya Unity pipeline. Should we go FBX and forget about MA files?

This doesn't sound right. It should work just as fine with MA files.

Regarding UV: maybe you have "Genegerate secondary UV" and "Swap UVs" enabled in FBXImport settings?
