Making interchangable 2d body parts for 2d / 3d hybrid game, possible?
Greetings, I am working on an idea and want to know what is the best way to make a 2d character with interchangable clothing.
basically, I want to make a characters, and you (the player) will be able to design your character with clothes etc.
the part that I am having trouble with is figuring out how to go about it.
I need four sections 1. feet (shoes) 2. legs (pants, dresses) 3. torso (tops) and 4. head (glasses, necklace, earrings etc.)
I would love to make it so the player can customize all the parts. and play that character in the game,
I would also love it so I can quickly create custom npc on the fly.
each 2d part is going to be hand drawn, and animated. with 1. walk-cycle 2. run-cycle 3. idle, basically what you would see in a 3d game, I will be hand drawing the necessary cycles.
also what is the best asset to use when creating the sprites for use in Unity. I would like it to be compatible with ORK or another RPG-kit? I have been considering ez2d. because it seems very easy, and all i am interested in is creating the animation cycles. but with customaizable body parts this may be impossible. am I right?
the game will be completely 3d with exception of trees, enemies, and NPCs and PCs.
thank you.
