Unity profiler usually fails to connect to iPhone
I've had really disappointing experiences trying to use the unity profiler to profile on the iPhone.
I build a development build, and have the checkbox to auto connect to the profiler (it has never successfully auto connected).
50% of the time, the profiler never sees the iPhone in the drop down menu, all I can select is 'editor'. 40% of the time I can see my iPhone in the drop down menu, but when I select it 'editor' is still selected, or when I press 'record' nothing gets recorded. 10% of the time it works correctly.
So far the profiler has been horribly inconsistent and it's extremely frustrating to use. Any ideas on what is going wrong here?
I had some problems with this, but I found that when connecting wired that the game built and ran and connected every time. If it did not I unticked record, waited for my game to start and then selected the iphone from the drop down. I made sure the tick for the player I was profiling moved to the iPhone and then hit record and then hit current frame. if you don't hit current frame then you can be inspected a frame that quickly runs into the past and becomes history.
