Unity 3 and Unity iPhone Basic

Hi,

I purchased Unity iPhone Basic a year or so ago, before Unity 3 came out. Now that Unity 3 is out, I can see that when you want to build your final game you have the option of specifying which device to build to, and iOS is listed here alongside all the others. It's saying that I don't have a licence for iOS... is iOS considered a different product to Unity iPhone Basic?

I just checked the store and there's 2 versions: iOS and iOS Pro. The price of iOS is similar to what Unity iPhone Basic cost me a while back, so it seems that they're the same thing, just named differently.

What i'm trying to work out, is if I can activate the iOS build option with the licence I have already purchased with Unity iPhone Basic?

Thanks

Mat

Major version changes are paid upgrades, typically half the price of the original. So you need to upgrade your old license to a Unity 3 license.

Thanks for clarifying that. Are there any stand-out features that are available in iOS that aren't in Unity iPhone Basic (aside from the various build options being available under one application)? I have checked the comparisons chart which shows what is and isn't available in the Pro and standard versions but the same limitations seem to apply between iPhone Basic and iOS... Just trying to see if it's worth the upgrade so any help is appreciated.

I also just noticed that if I supply my existing serial number for iPhone basic, the upgrade price is knocked down to $150.

Thanks

You might want to look at the chart again; there are quite a few differences between iOS and iOS Pro.

I'm saying I couldn't see any differences between iOS and iPhone basic that warranted shelling out - can you point anything out in particular please?

Look at the release notes for 2.5, 2.6, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2, all of which are newer than iPhone Basic: http://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-2.5.html, http://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-2.6.html, http://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-3.html, http://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-3.1.html, http://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-3.2.html
