iphone screen too big?

Hi, I'm new to the iPhone and maybe someone here can help me. When I go to sleep, everything's fine. When I wake up, I can't see the time, battery, internet connection, etc. I can scroll up to see all of these things, but I can't see them and the bottom of the screen at the same time. The screen just seems to have outgrown the phone frame. Did I do something to cause this? Can it be fixed? If anyone has any information that can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
