Is there a performance increase when using prefabs instead of separate objects, or is it purely a convinced advantage?
What? Prefabs just make tedious tasks simplier, ins$$anonymous$$d of make six stair cases you make one prefab for it and make $$anonymous$$or changes along the way.

Prefabs are exactly the same thing as non-prefabs, it's "merely" an organizational and convenience tool.
