Apple m1 Progressive CPU lightmapping unavailable
I fount that in Unity 2021 [silicon] on MacBook Pro 2021 there's no option to enable Progressive CPU lightmapper (it's gray in dropdown menu)
I need to bake 4k lightmap for a big level. With GPU lightmapper editor gives me warning and background baking task hangs with 0% and not responding.
OpenCL Error. Error callback from context: Not enough GPU memory to fit lightmap in memory, even in tiled baking mode. Available GPU memory: 5.33 GB
The only workaround I found is to set Max Lightmap Size to 2k, so it will split lightmap to 4 2k textures, which is not good option for my project.
Tested in Unity 2021.2.8f1 and 2021.2.17f1 silicon versions
intel Unity versions have working CPU lightmapper though
so why silicon version doesn't support cpu lightmapper? Will it be fixed in future releases? I didn't find any info
May be there are any workarounds to enable cpu option or make gpu work with 4k texture?
For now I see only option is to stick with intel version of editor only because of 4k lightmaps
