2017 Macbook pro Editor lagg
Hello!
So, this is my MacBook Pro:
2,9 GHz four-core Intel Core i7-processor, Turbo Boost 3,8 GHz
16 GB 2133 MHz memory
512 GB PCIe SSD
Radeon Pro 460 med 4 GB memory
When I try to open up 3D game git, and any of those scenes, the editor is so slow, that it takes me 4-5 seconds after pressing alt, to be able to rotate the view. I have tried to open unity in low-resolution mode, which does not help in scenes from 3D game kit, but it does make it a tiny bit better in scenes such as the tanks game (The tutorial scene).
Has anyone experienced this before, and know how I can fix it? I am aware that it won't be as smooth as a desktop PC, and that is of course fine. As long as it performs better than my 2014 MacBook Pro, I'm happy (which currently, it doesn't).
Thanks!
Have you diagnosed the machine by checking activity monitor, sort by CPU% or total CPU time, maybe check disk performance consumption on the disk page, to see what might be taking up power?
I just helped with a similar observation, a 2017 $$anonymous$$acBook Pro very much like yours, a user who happened to have a 2013 $$anonymous$$acBookPro that he felt ran faster (and was on an older version of the OS). In his case, IDrive's daemon was consu$$anonymous$$g more CPU power and nearly as much disk performance as his Avast antivirus.
Hello, and thanks for your reply! I have looked at the Activity $$anonymous$$onitor, and everything looks normal, except the CPU usage. Currently, I have opened level 1 from 3D Game kit, and when I am not doing anything, the CPU load is at 30-50%. As soon as I try to move the camera, or focus on an object, the CPU usage goes to over 100%. Yesterday I saw numbers as high as 730% CPU usage. On average today, when I am trying to do anything, the usage averages from 105-120%.
After taking a closer look, the CPU Time seems to spike as well. It jumps up by 5-20 $$anonymous$$utes randomly.
The computer is currently reformatted with the $$anonymous$$ojave Beta OS. And yes, this happened before I instaled the Beta OS as well, so I doubt that is the problem.
