how FADE IN AND FADE OUT in C#?

     float fadeSpeed = 0.2;
     int drawDepth = -1000;

         alpha += fadeDir * fadeSpeed * Time.deltaTime;  
         alpha = Mathf.Clamp01(alpha);   
         
         GUI.color.a = alpha;
