Question by jmaldzy · Dec 18, 2014 at 11:49 AM · fpsgraphicsperformanceframerateoculusrift

Why does the frame rate drop so much when rendering my game?

I'm creating a virtual tour of the veins and arteries . This scene has 3 different types of cells emitting from 3 different mesh particle emitters. The cells flow towards the camera in the vein. Every time I preview the game the frame rate immediately drops to 6-8 fps. I've tried adding a script that sets the expected framerate to 60fps and that didn't work. I don't think it's our computer because my University just purchased this computer so that we could create this experience, here are the specs:

CPU Intel i7-4790

16GB Ram

MSI GEFORCE GTX 980

Windows 7 with Unity 4.6.1

PS: I only have 2 months experience with Unity. This is being developed for Oculus Rift but that shouldn't make a big different. Oculus Player controller prefab = the camera
