Importing from Maya
I have been following the FAQ on here on how to import maya files into unity but everytime I try to do so Unity freezes and does not import the file. This happens even with small files so I know its not a size issue. Any suggestions? Nothing special about the files, just a cube I'm trying to import to test it.

Why do you need Maya files? You can use Autodesk FBX plugin.
I don't have the fbx plug-in (university labs won't allow install).
Does it have to be .fbx? From the FAQ i thought it was ok to be a .ma or .mb
If you want to import ma/mb files you need to have $$anonymous$$aya with FBX plugin installed (FBX plugins usually come with $$anonymous$$aya, your can check that in "plugin manager" in $$anonymous$$aya).

Which Unity and Maya are you using?
Freezing Unity indicates that it starts Maya, but then Maya doesn't convert mb to fbx. There might be several reasons for that:
- You don't have fbx plugin (I really doubt that)
- You're using Unity 2.6 and Maya 2011 - this combination doesn't work very well. It is fixed in Unity 3.0. Just export from mb to fbx manually.
